With a fight rumoured to be in the works for this September, UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya is taking aim at Sean Strickland on social media after Strickland made remarks about being pressured to take the fight on short notice.
Writing on Twitter, Strickland described his history in the UFC, noting his extremely short notice win over Nassourdine Imavov and his willingness to take on Alex Pereira despite being ranked fourth in the division while the kickboxer had only two UFC wins.
But the organization’s latest request seems to be too much for “Tarzan”.
“Sean we might havae to fly you across the world on a 5 week notice to fight the Chinese Champion,” he said, referring to a video filmed by “The Last Stylebender” during his kickboxing career in China.
Adesanya was having none of Strickland’s alleged excuses.
“Lol ‘5 weeks’. You been training since your last fight,” Adesanya said in a tweet. “We both fighting on short notice, you’re not doing nothing special, you dirty c*nt.”
The UFC has been discussing Adensanya vs. Strickland as a potential headliner for UFC 293, which goes down Sept. 23 from the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
